The Walk to End Alzheimer's Image of community members walking together in support

The Amherst FBLA members will volunteer at the Walk to End Alzheimer's on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, at Yanney Park in Kearney. The chapter invites students, families and community members to walk or donate in support of the cause.

Walk to End Alzheimer's is the nation's largest fundraising event for Alzheimer's care, support and research. It is not an Amherst event. FBLA members chose to support it by volunteering, and we encourage others to join in walking or donating to support the cause.

Why it matters

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. According to the Alzheimer's Association, more than 7 million Americans age 65 and older are living with the disease. Millions of family members and friends provide unpaid care for them. Nearly every community has been touched by it, and the number of people affected is expected to keep growing as the population ages.

Why FBLA chose to get involved

"As future business and community leaders, we believe leadership means showing up for the people around us," said the chapter President Avery Cast. Community service is a core part of FBLA's mission. Supporting this event was a natural fit for this year's Program of Work.

Students will give their time on event day to help the walk run smoothly and to support participants. FBLA members hope their involvement inspires classmates, families and neighbors to take part.
